Liverpool 1-2 Manchester United

Well this was depressing.

This game had a bad atmosphere from before kick off for me and the early goal we conceded just made that feeling worse.

There is no two ways about it a lot of decisions went against us and we hit the post three times. We are never giving up in games, it just isn't quite happening.

We had enough chances to win this game but equally we conceded enough chances to lose by more.

There is a clear change in our opponents' tactics but we can't expect teams to play open football against us. We're going to be facing low blocks and long balls all season.

To create as many chances as we did against these tactics is a positive to take from this game.

The full back situation is still a conundrum. It is a clear area of weakness for us right now and I do think bringing in Robertson for experience purposes is vital at the moment because Kerkez looks like he's struggling with the pressure of being at a big club and probably needs to be eased into the team.

I also think at right back we either use Frimpong and let him grow into the defensive side of things, because his attacking stats from last season in Germany are too good to ignore, or we bring in Gomez to help solidify our defence.

I loved how bold Slot was with his substitutions and yes it was risky but it got us the equaliser. If only we had remained a little calmer, instead of rushing basic decisions in search of a winner, we may have come out of the game with at least a point as I do believe it was the "rushed mentality" that led to mistakes that contributed to their second goal.

There will be many questions but what I would say is after the game I didn't have a feeling of panic like I may have had in years gone by. We have had a big change in personnel and we need to be patient.

I also like how calm Arne Slot was after the match, in a moment many managers would not be.
