Crystal Palace 2-1 Liverpool
I haven't seen the full game yet with it being a 3pm kick-off.
I listened to commentary on All Red Video and the first half was nothing but dire. Alisson clearly kept us in the game.
We played far better in the second half so credit to Arne Slot and the coaching team for the half-time team talk and subsequent changes.
When Chiesa got us back in the game it felt incredible and I did believe we could win the game but I also believed we could lose the game.
You can see we have the belief that we can win any game now. We have the winning mentality. I know it didn't happen this time and it's hard to take positives from this game but I think this is one.
I would also take comfort from the fact we managed to create numerous chances in the second half against a low block and possibly the best defence in the Premier League right now.
We will be facing many more low blocks this season and will require similar tactics that will hopefully produce more goals than the one against Crystal Palace.
Marc Guehi
One thing I would like to say that many might believe is pointless to discuss is the result of not signing Marc Guehi.
When the transfer fell through on the final day of the transfer window I had a feeling it would come back to haunt us in this fixture.
One of the considerations when signing a player from another team in your competition is not only the quality they bring to the squad but also how it weakens the opposition.
It can often be worth six points in the league which is a lot of points when you want to win the Premier League.
Guehi assisted the Crystal Palace winner and was fundamental in their strong defence. I do believe and I'm sure the hierarchy at Liverpool will also be thinking that we've paid a price in this game, in the form of three points, for not signing Marc Guehi.
Whether this transfer will happen in the future remains to be seen.
